The Local Organizing Committee (LOC) from the Scientific Committee on Antarctic Research (SCAR), has organized the following activities for the SCAR Open Science Conference attendees and the community of Pucón and its surroundings to learn more about the importance of Antarctica. For this reason, these activities are free and open to the public. We cordially invite you to be part of these activities and enjoy our Antarctic Fest!

We are delighted to invite you to the “Expo Congreso Antártico Pucón 2024“, a vibrant showcase of art and craftsmanship inspired by the wonders of Antarctica. This unique exhibit brings together local artists, artisans, and creators who have drawn inspiration from the icy landscapes, diverse wildlife, and profound cultural connections to this remote region. Live music from local bands will also be part of the program!
The exhibit will feature a variety of artwork, including paintings, textiles, and traditional crafts, all reflecting the majesty and mystery of the Antarctic environment.
This is not just an art exhibition but also an opportunity to gain valuable insights into the ecological and cultural significance of the Antarctic region.

Centro Interactivo Vulcanológico de La Araucanía CIVUR
UFRO (Caupolicán 78)
The Interactive Volcanology Center of Araucanía is an initiative of the Pucón Campus of the Universidad de La Frontera that promotes the generation and dissemination of knowledge about the fascinating world of volcanoes.
With a focus on citizen science, CIVUR-39º conducts interdisciplinary and collaborative work across various fields. It aims to bring knowledge about volcanology and risk management closer to the entire community through the convergence of Western science and local knowledge.
